Marino Parisotto’s classic black and white photographs are seduction in its purest form. They drape themselves in lascivious poses, enticing the viewer in with long, delicately balanced legs and telling glances. Their aphrodisiac nature derives from sensual stimulants and cleverly hidden artistic references. Sometimes Parisotto portrays his models as antique goddesses, exalting the perfectly formed body. At other times the scene is fantastical, inspiring dreams that soar to the point of intoxication.
His depiction of women changes according to the scene. In one, an angel lingers on the rooftops of New York, in another, a vampire clothed in seductive black satin lures us in. Parisotto deliberately crosses boundaries, placing the viewer’s expectations on edge. We can read almost anything into his works, except that they are depictions of reality. He is focused on dreams, on beauty, and on the portrayal of an erotically charged atmosphere. With Parisotto we are never quite sure which is more profound: The sensual aura he creates, or the genre-specific stylistic devices uses to do so.
